PuppyMill Awareness Day 2007

On September 15th, 2007 the annual Awareness Day was held in Intercourse, PA, we walked through the town to show our support for the dogs that are still in the "Mills" that have not got out yet. This is a community where there are lots of mennonite and amish families that think dogs are
livestock and are made to live in unacceptable conditions. Please do not buy puppies from these people. Often they are sick and have emotional problems because they are inbred. Thank you Cari and Haley for walking in honor of Emma.

Why it is important tospay/neuter your pet?

Spay and neuter your pet!

In addition to saving lives, spaying and neutering can also drastically improve your pet's health and life expectancy. The idea that pets become fat or lazy when they are spayed or neutered is a myth. Sterilized pets lead healthier, longer lives. Spaying a female eliminates the possibility of uterine and ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the risk of breast cancer. Neutering a male reduces the risk of both prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. Neutering also will make your pet more affectionate and less likely to roam, get in fights, or become lost.

My personal experience warrants me to say this:

Do not purchase a puppy from the Lancaster area!

If you do be very careful as this area is known for puppymills. Do not trust what these people tell you do your research (I will even help if you are not sure what to ask and where to go for answers). Cocker Spaniel Rescues have alot of dogs waiting for their forever homes, these dogs are not always bad some of them are the result of a situation they had no control of.

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them.

Become active and volunteer for Rescue or any group that does not euthanize, they are always in need of people to help save these dogs lives.

Love your Pets as they are the only things that love you more than they love themselves!!
